Training Overview

Advanced Operations / Search & Rescue Techniques

Build practical confidence in advanced RPAS operations with a training program that combines classroom instruction with hands-on flight experience across multiple aircraft platforms. This course is designed to strengthen operational knowledge, flight proficiency, mission planning, and real-world response readiness.

Key Notes

  • Transport Canada recognized and approved flight school.
  • Pre-reading material is provided once payment is confirmed.
  • Training is delivered at a predetermined location.

Classroom (3 days)

RPAS regulations modules include:

1. RPAS Regulations RPAS rules, basic and advanced operations, limits, pilot responsibilities, and documentation.
2. RPAS Airframe Aircraft systems including propulsion, power, sensors, control link, maintenance, and checks.
3. Human Factors Situational awareness, decision-making, fatigue, communication, and error management.
4. Meteorology Forecasts, wind, local effects, and weather-based go or no-go decisions.
5. Navigation Airspace, NOTAMs, coordinates, distances, and route planning.
6. Flight Operations Site surveys, risk assessments, SOPs, checklists, logs, and emergency planning.
7. Theory of Flight Lift, drag, stability, performance limits, and environmental effects.
8. Radiotelephony Frequencies, phraseology, position reports, and aerodrome / ATC coordination.

Practical (2 days)

Hands-on flight training includes time on multiple aircraft types, including DJI M400 RTK, DJI M30T, DJI Mavic 3E, DJI Avata, DJI Mini 3, and others.

  • Core maneuvers: Hovering in place, directional movement, and controlled yaw while maintaining stability.
  • Intermediate skills: Square and figure-eight patterns, smooth altitude control, and combining movement inputs.
  • Precision flying: Obstacle navigation in tight spaces and precision hovering over a defined point while adjusting camera or payload orientation.
  • Waypoint missions: Planning and executing automated routes while adjusting speed, altitude, and camera actions at each waypoint.
  • Camera and payload operations: Coordinating flight controls with gimbal movement for smooth pans, tilts, and cinematic capture.
  • Payload integration: Operating specialized payloads such as thermal, LiDAR, and delivery systems while managing multi-sensor data collection.
  • Emergency procedures: Loss-of-control recovery, immediate return-to-home, and low-battery response.
